Rio Rancho residents who want a direct role in shaping city policy on everything from parks to public infrastructure now have a chance to serve — the city is accepting applications for open seats on nine boards and commissions.
Seats are vacant or soon to expire on the Arts Commission, Capital Improvements Plan Citizen’s Advisory Committee, Investment Advisory Board, Keep Rio Rancho Beautiful Committee, Lodger’s Tax Advisory Board, Parks and Recreation Commission, Planning and Zoning Board, Public Infrastructure Advisory Board and Senior Services Advisory Board, according to the city. Applications will be accepted until each seat is filled.
Under the City Charter, the mayor appoints members to boards and commissions, subject to confirmation by the City Council. Some positions require specific backgrounds — the Investment Advisory Board seeks residents with public finance experience, for example, while the Capital Improvements Plan committee targets those with real estate or construction backgrounds.
Residents can apply online or submit a résumé and application in person to the City Clerk’s office at Rio Rancho City Hall, 3200 Civic Center Circle.
